This Guy Transitioned to Small Group PT in Just 3 Months

How Dan Moved All His 1:1 Clients To a Group Model

Read time: 2 minutes

Dear Fitpreneurs,

Dan emailed us back in March looking for some help with his studio.

He has a 1,500 sqf location in Essex but his model wasn’t allowing him to grow.

  • 1:1 clients

  • 10 sessions per day

  • 50 sessions per week

  • No chance of holidays/time off

He was burning out and needed a reset.

So we came onboard to help him transition from 1:1 to small-group PT.

And we did it in 3 months. Here’s how:

NEW EPISODE

8 Scientific Ways to Get Members for Your Gym

In this episode, we explore 8 scientific ways to get new members for your gym. We jump into the world of behavioral marketing and share practical tips you can apply to your fitness studio. We discuss various cognitive biases and how they can influence people's decisions, helping you attract more clients. From loss aversion to social proof, we break down each concept with real-life examples from our own gym's journey.

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • How loss aversion can lead to more sales.

  • The best ways to use social proof in marketing.

  • The power of scarcity to drive new members.

  • How to leverage authority as a gym owner.

  • The small nudges you can make in your studio to increase conversion.

#1 - Decide The New Model

To allow room to scale, Dan needed to shake things up.

So we worked together on remodelling his studio.

During our first coaching call, we decided on the following:

Dan later decided he was going to go with the single membership offer (12 sessions per month).

#2 - Build The Back-End

To prepare for the new model, we needed to get some systems up and running in the background.

So Dan signed up for LegitFit*, set up his mobile app and started to map out his timetable.

He used our Capacity Calculator to avoid overstretching himself with sessions.

#3 - Transition Current Clients

Most customers hate change.

They tend to like things how they are (that’s why they’re paying you).

So any transition in the business needs to be delicate.

That’s why we helped Dan craft a “Transition Letter” to all his current clients.

This outlined the change of billing but highlighted all the benefits that were to come.

After receiving the news, 25 out of 30 said yes. Bingo.

We went to visit Dan at his studio in Essex to start setting up his studio for SGPT.

#4 - Test Weeks

Dan was about to make a huge shift.

So we decided to hold off from getting new members.

At least until him and his current clients were confident on the new programming.

The test weeks enabled Dan to get feedback, refine the product, and fix teething issues.

Once happy, we were ready to start acquiring members.

Which brings us to where we are right now…

#5 - Sign Up New Members

“You can’t invite people round to the party whilst you’re still setting up”.

Once Dan gave us the nod, we gave him our sales funnels and automations.

The plan is to start running ads to his Gateway Offer and stack consultations in the diary.

The good news is he can now add members to a model that scales.

Final Words…

It’s been a blast working with Dan over the last 3 months.

He’s freed up so much time and he now gets to focus more on the business.

Although revenue has remained the same, he now has more capacity for growth.

Which is exactly what we’re going to do over the 12 months (he’s decided to stick around!)
