The Low Barrier Offer

If you’re selling monthly coaching packages, you’re leaving a lot of money on the table.

In a world where personal trainers are all competing for the same customer, it’s time to get creative.

That’s why a low-barrier offer (or “LBO” for short) is the lifeblood of any fitness coaching business.

You entice people with a desirable solution and sign them up as an ongoing monthly client on the back-end.

This means you can acquire clients for less and build the most trust in the market.

But let me be clear

It’s not a new offer. You don’t have to create a new programme or spend hours making new resources.

A LBO is simply a front-end promise with a fixed duration.

The way you fulfil your clients doesn’t change.

But the way you attract them DOES.

Let’s build your LBO together:

Step 1 - Decide the constants

Your LBO shouldn’t be confusing.

Build a skeleton that gets results and change the clothes from time to time.

The constants I would nail down are:

  • Avatar = Who’s it for?

  • Promise = What do they get?

  • Timeframe = How long is it?

  • Mechanism = How do they do it?

  • Guarantee = What’s the risk?

  • Price = How much is it?

Step 2 - Create the variables

Have you ever bought a new outfit and within weeks, it doesn’t feel exciting to wear anymore?

That’s how the market thinks about your LBO.

Once you have the skeleton, don’t be afraid to change up the clothes from time to time.

This keeps things fresh and always presents a “new” opportunity.

Variables include:

  • Season = Summer/Winter etc.

  • Problem = Body confidence/Injury rehab etc.

  • Desire = Look strong/Get lean etc.

  • Milestone = Business birthday/50 members etc.

  • Culture = Barbie/Hollywood Muscles

  • Bonus = Free Massage

Step 3 - Piece them together

You can see from the list above that creating LBOs can become easy.

Whenever your offer goes stale, pair one constant with one new variable (put clothes on the skeleton).

And boom—you’ve got a new exciting offer to share with your audience.

It’s important to always keep things fresh. People are bombarded with fitness offers everyday. So don’t be scared to find new creative ways to stand out.

We’ve made some free worksheets to brainstorm your LBOs. Check it out below.
