So you’ve signed up a client? Congrats. Good job. Kudos to you. But now what?
Onboarding new clients can make or break your PT business.
Get it wrong and your programme becomes more of an anticlimax than James Corden in Cats.
But get it right, and your new clients will embark on a journey they’ll never forget.
Why is an onboarding call important?
The first call with your client is probably the most important conversation you’ll ever have.
You’re under the spotlight and you want to give a performance worth sticking around for. So let’s make it irresistible.
After all, we don’t want your personal training turning into a Nickleback song.
Nor do we want anyone becoming too overwhelmed that they start regretting the choice they’ve made.
Here are 5 steps to leading an unforgettable onboarding session:
(Note: This can be applied for offline and online personal trainers)
Agenda & goals. Don’t coast through the conversation. Make it clear what you’re going to achieve together. This excites your new client!
Roadmap. Clients will always be clients if they have a future in front of them. Let them know what’s to come. (Click here to create your coaching roadmap)
Support. Ever had a client message you after hours? That’s your fault (sorry). Make them aware of the support options at the start. That way, they’ll never argue and you’ll get your weekends back.
Current Reality & Future Vision. Dig deep into what life looks like today compared to what life will look like in the future.
Next 3 Steps. Don’t ask too much of your client at the beginning. They’ve already made a huge investment so don’t get them to start watching hours of boring content. Instead, decide the most important 3 steps and make it simple for them to action.
If you include these pieces in your onboarding call, your new clients will know how to get the most out of your coaching and will more likely hit their goals.
Plus you’ll set expectations early so they don’t become a pain the arse. Everyone’s a winner.
