How to Stay Productive When Everyone Else Slows Down

The 6 key actions we’re taking to finish the year strong and set up 2025.

Dear Fitpreneurs,

At the end of the year, it’s easy to lose momentum.

The irony is that while most personal trainers urge their clients to “stay consistent,” they often fail to follow their own advice (letting their business take a back seat).

So, how can you make the most of the weeks leading up to the new year?

Here’s what we’re doing at Revamp to finish the year strong and set up 2025 for success:

New Episode

What We Learned Throwing a Christmas Party for 80 Gym Members

This week, we’re talking all about our Christmas party. What went right, what we learned, and how we plan to make the next one even better. We also share some honest reflections about running a business during busy (and sometimes unpredictable) times. Plus, we dive into the small wins that remind us why we do what we do and how long-term thinking is key in building something truly special.

1. Building Brand (Not Selling Memberships)

Right now, we’ve paused new member sign-ups at our studios.

Instead, we’re focused on warming up our audience ahead of the New Year campaign.

You’ll notice our recent social media content highlights our product and community without pushing a hard sell. It’s all about staying visible and engaging without overwhelming people with offers.

We’re also keeping up with weekly round-up emails to keep our audience informed and engaged. By the time our campaign launches, this work will have lowered our cost-per-acquisition and set us up for strong conversions.

2. Running Facebook Ads

In the background, we’re running waiting list ads with a modest budget of £10–£20 per day.

These ads build anticipation and encourage people to register early for our New Year offer. By creating a sense of demand, we’re positioning the programme as exclusive—and when we cap numbers, that perception becomes a reality.

We’ll dive into the details of this strategy in next week’s newsletter.

3. Crunching the Numbers

While others are winding down, we’re taking this time to tidy up our business metrics.

This involves updating our data, closing any gaps, and ensuring everything is current.

Having accurate metrics gives us a clearer picture of the studio’s overall health and positions us to hit the ground running in the new year.

4. Team Meetings

This time of year is also perfect for reconnecting with the team.

At Revamp, we schedule monthly one-to-one meetings with each coach to check in on their progress and challenges. These conversations often uncover questions or issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

We’re also making time for team bonding. This Sunday, we’re hosting a paddle competition for the group. It’s a chance to unwind and connect outside of work.

5. Improving Systems

If you’ve been following our podcast, you’ll know we’ve spent the past quarter refining our systems—especially with a new location opening.

This has been an eye-opener, revealing cracks we didn’t even know were there.

We’ve built a robust operating system in Notion that’s becoming more streamlined every day. Here are some of the systems we’ve developed:

  • Creating and scheduling content

  • Managing customer feedback and morale

  • Summarising internal meetings

  • Tracking staff expenses and performance

  • Building SOPs and documenting processes

As we close out the year, we’ll keep refining these systems to ensure everything runs smoothly in 2025.

6. Planning for 2025

Next week, we’re dedicating time to planning the year ahead.

In the past, we’ve left this to the last minute, but we’ve learned that a clear plan makes members and staff happier.

We’ll outline everything—from campaigns to member events—and share key dates with members. This simple step gives members something to look forward to and can even convince those on the fence to stick around.

Final Words

Most of us are guilty of the same things we call out in our clients.

If you’ve ever felt frustrated with a client for “slowing down” or not following through, it’s worth reflecting on your own blind spots. What areas of your business have you been putting off?

Before criticising others for taking their foot off the gas in December, ask yourself:

“What am I doing to move my business forward?”

That’s it from us. Reply any time…
